What You Can Become
Once you have seen what you can be, you can't go back and choose not to see.
Have you ever had that feeling where you're doing okay… but somewhere in the back of your mind, you know you could be doing so much more?
Nothing is really wrong.
Life is moving.
You're working, you're growing, you're getting by.
But you can't stop thinking about the person you could become if you actually gave it everything.
I tried putting that feeling into a poem.
Once you have seen what you can be,
You can't go back and choose not to see.
The life you live may look the same,
But deep inside, you want the change.
You start to see the time you waste,
The little dreams you left in haste.
You know the road, you know the cost,
You know the chances you have lost.
You tell yourself, "I'll start next week,"
Then wonder why the change you seek
Still feels so far, still out of reach.
But every step has more to teach.
Some days you'll win, some days you'll fall,
Some days you'll doubt yourself at all.
But when the road feels hard to climb,
Just keep on going, give it time.
You don't need to change overnight,
You don't need to get it all right.
Just take one step, then take one more,
And keep becoming what you're reaching for.
Because once you've seen what's deep inside,
You can't keep running from that side.
There is no peace for the one who can see the person they know they could be.
And maybe that's not a bad thing.
Maybe you don't need to become that person today.
Just become 1% better than you were yesterday.
Because one percent doesn't feel like much…
**until you look back
and realize
how far you've come.**
